Connect ChatGPT to your Threads workflow

There are two different paths. The ChatGPT desktop app can configure MCP servers; ChatGPT web uses installed plugins for hosted remote tools. They are not interchangeable.

Official OpenAI documentation provides an MCP server setup screen and shared Codex-host configuration. The exact gateway login and read-only flow still needs a recorded live check.

ChatGPT web

PLUGIN PLANNED

Hosted ChatGPT uses remote MCP-backed tools through installed plugins. This product has not packaged or published that plugin, so web setup is not currently offered.

Help me connect the ChatGPT desktop app to my Threads workflow.

Use the exact desktop MCP server instructions on the product's setup page. Start read-only. Do not ask for or accept my Meta or Threads credential. Ask me to place the separate assistant connection key in the client's local secret configuration rather than pasting it into ordinary content. After setup, call threads_get_permissions, explain what you can and cannot do in plain language, then perform one useful read-only account review. Do not request write access.
