Connect Codex to your Threads workflow
Codex CLI has completed a recorded read-only call against the live gateway. The setup is guided today; the generated pairing note is the next product step.

Help me connect Codex to my Threads workflow.
Use the exact Codex CLI or IDE instructions on the product's setup page. Start read-only. Do not ask for or accept my Meta or Threads credential. Ask me to place the separate assistant connection key in the client's local secret configuration rather than pasting it into ordinary content. After setup, call threads_get_permissions, explain what you can and cannot do in plain language, then perform one useful read-only account review. Do not request write access.
What happens today
- Create a workspace and connect Threads through Meta's account sign-in.
- Create a read-only assistant connection in the product.
- Store its one-time key in a local secret environment variable.
- Add the gateway's Streamable HTTP URL to Codex.
- Have Codex inspect permissions and complete one useful read.
Codex CLI, the Codex IDE extension, and the ChatGPT desktop app can share MCP configuration on the same Codex host according to current OpenAI documentation. This repository's live evidence currently covers Codex CLI only.
Why the key is not your Threads credential
The assistant connection key is independently scoped and revocable. The Meta credential remains encrypted in the gateway and is never accepted from or returned to Codex.
